Jamshedpur, Nov 13: Bengal’s Keshav Goel bagged a double crown at the Tata Steel AITA Championship Series 2021, held at the Deco Turf courts of the JRD Tata Sports Complex.

The championship concluded with the prize distribution function on Friday evening.

Goel, seeded 2 in the Boys Singles Under 18 category, did not have to sweat much against statemate Shivam Khanna as the latter seemed too rusty and offered numerous free points to the 2nd seed. Goel won the finals by 6-1,6-3.

Goel, partnering Tamoghna Das, had already lifted the Boys Doubles Under 18 crown last evening. The duo got the better of Steven Ankit Ekka and Shubham Sarangi from Odisha by a straight 6-2,6-2.

In the Girls Singles Under 18, top seeded Sumeira Jaiswal did complete justice to her billing as she claimed the champion’s trophy drowning 2nd seeded Rituja Saha by a close 7-5,6-4.

Atrayee Sanyal, vice-president, Human Resource Management, Tata Steel was present at the prize distribution ceremony as chief guest.

She not only praised the newly done infrastructure but was also delighted to see the young talents travelling from all over the country in the hunt for valuable national ranking points.
