Nainital, Nov.17: A squad of police found seven shells and one live cartridge from Congress politician Salman Khurshid’s house in Nanital, which had been vandalised by the crowd. Officials reported on Wednesday that due to aerial firing, bullets were recovered in the ceiling and walls.

“The forensic team arrived to investigate and found seven rounds and one live cartridge, the majority of which were fired inside the bungalow. Bullets had been discovered strewn across the ceiling and walls,” stated Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Nilesh Anand Bharne.

He stated that in addition to identifying the perpetrators of the crime, the search for the absconding suspect is ongoing.

The home of the Congress leader was purportedly trashed and parts of it set on fire by mobs. This criticism comes just days after his latest book on Ayodhya drew comparisons between Hindutva and extreme Islamist movements.

The Kumaun police have arrested 21 people in connection with the vandalism of the former Union Minister’s residence.

Two Delhi lawyers have also filed complaints with the Delhi Police against Khurshid, alleging that his book, which was launched last week, defamed Hinduism and compared it to terrorism.

In his complaint, lawyer Vivek Garg seeks to bring a case against Khurshid.

Salman Khurshid, a senior member of congress, is accused of comparing Hindutva to extremist terrorist organisations like ISIS and Boko Haram, according to the complaint.

Meanwhile, in his case, lawyer Vineet Jindal claims that the statement included in the book is not only agitating and provoking, but also raising sentiments among Hindus.

Last Monday, Khurshid’s new book on the Ayodhya ruling was published. It looked at the Supreme Court’s momentous decision in the Ayodhya dispute. Hindutva has been linked to radical terrorist groups like “ISIS and Boko Haram,” according to Khurshid.

The news comes as seven states across the country, including Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujarat, prepare for assembly elections next year.
