Mumbai, Dec.18: The digital collectibles or NFTs for Ranveer Singh’s upcoming project ‘83’, which is based on the 1983 World Cup, will be released on December 23.
The film, which stars Singh in the lead role, follows the life of Kapil Dev, with a focus on India’s 1983 World Cup victory. The film’s director, Kabir Khan, wants to sell the posters, cricket memorabilia, and other items as NFTs because the film is based on such a significant historical event.
NFTs are also becoming increasingly popular among Bollywood celebrities. Everyone has dabbled in NFTs, from Amitabh Bachchan to Salman Khan.
Physical cricket memorabilia, animated digital avatars, posters, pictures, and video moments from the Ranveer Singh starrer 83 will be included in the NFTs, which will be based on the Polygon blockchain.
“We are ecstatic to enter this new realm of digital potential to provide Bollywood and cricket fans the chance to profit from the film’s box-office success in a way that has never been done before,” said director Kabir Khan to IANS.
According to Khan, “83 is a pivotal event in Indian history that everyone can relate to, so this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for collectors, and we’re looking forward to seeing the response.”
For the exclusive distribution of the movie’s NFTs, the makers of 83 have teamed up with NFT Labs, Inc. and Social Swag, an influencer-led fan interaction platform. Because the film is based on such a significant historical event, the CEO of NFT Labs stated, “People can own a piece of that moment and own a piece of history!”
In a similar vein, Salman Khan has started his own NFT marketplace. The NFT collection will comprise, among other things, movie snippets, Dabangg posters, and stills.
