Ranchi, Dec.22: JMM legislator Lobin Hembrom today expressed his concern over the plan of the state government to sell liquor.
His concern was experienced when he attracted attention of the house towards a new item suggesting that the government is contemplating selling liquor to the Chhattisgarh police.
“Shibu Soren has always spoken in favour of prohibition during his struggle for a separate Jharkhand state. Now his son, who is the chief minister of the state, thinks about selling liquor. This is very shameful. This is a matter of great concern for me. I am a follower of Shibu Soren and will not tolerate this if this happens,” senior legislator Hembrom, who represents Borio assembly constituency, said.
Hembrom brought the matter in the notice of the house after the question hour, which ran smoothly today, unlike other days when it remained disturbed on the issue of JPSC examination bungling.
Legislators cutting across political agendas today raised the matter related to their constituency and several times cornered the government for its misleading, incomplete or vague information.
Poraiyahat legislator Pradeep Yadav cornered the government for its wasteful expenditure on different projects, including Harmu rejuvenation project, Urban Haat, slaughterhouse, Time square, sewage drainage project among others.
“The Government should have said in its reply when these projects will be completed and if it has not been completed what were the reasons and what are being done to ensure the completion of the project but it has given a vague reply,” Yadav said and added an amount of Rs 84 crore was spent on Harmu river rejuvenation, Rs 5 crore on urban haat, Rs 17 crore on the slaughterhouse, Rs 22 crore on the Time square and over Rs 100 crore on the sewage and drainage project.
On which minister Satyanand Bhokta, replying on behalf of the government said he will soon discuss the matter with the chief minister and decide what to do. Yadav was not satisfied with the answer and asked why the minister did not discuss the matter before entering into the house.
Bokaro legislator Biranchi Narayan wanted to know the reason behind the delay in operationalisation of the airport in Bokaro. On which the government, in its reply, attributed the delay to the fact that SAIL has not applied for license and for this the state government is not anyway responsible. Narayan demanded a meeting in his presence with the BSL management and the government responded positively. Narayan said if the government extends its support the airport will be operational within three months.
