Dhanbad, Dec 24: The Industries and Commerce Association (ICA) has complained to the union power minister against load shedding by Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) and urged him to intervene immediately for the rescue of industries and people.

ICA, the frontal organization of 75 registered Hard Coke Industries of Jharkhand, in its memorandum to Union Minister for Power Rajkumar Singh sent today has said that arm twisting tactics of DVC for realizing dues from the Jharkhand government has left hard coke industries on the verge of closure.
“DVC has been resorting to massive power cuts in  Jharkhand to realize its dues. Such power cuts have put hardship on people and industrial units and corporations in the state,” said BN Singh, the president of ICA.
DVC has started a power cut in seven districts of Jharkhand including Dhanbad, Giridih, Chas ( Bokaro), Koderma, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh and Chatra that fall in its command areas for realising around Rs 2200 crores due from the Jharkhand government for the last one month.
Following power cuts, people and hard coke industrial units in 7 districts are facing  10 to 12 hours of load shedding in a day.
The ICA president has written that DVC power plants run on coal from Jharkhand in a big way and its major production units are based in Jharkhand. It is highly illogical that people of the state are being made to suffer as the government is not able to clear the dues.
“ So the Association seeks your immediate intervention into the crisis to take up the matter with DVC as well as Jharkhand government and sort out the problem in the interest of consumers (people) and industrial units,” said ICA president BN Singh.
