New Delhi, Dec 28: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday has urged protesting resident doctors to call off their strike in the public interest.

Mandaviya also met the representatives to discuss their demand for NEET-PG counselling. The representatives   asked apology for alleged police brutality during Monday’s protest march.

A 13-member team comprising three doctors from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, two from Lady Harding, one from LNJP, two from Safdurjung hospital, two GTB hospital, two FORDA and one from FIAMA, met the minister over their ongoing protest against the delay in NEET PG counselling 2021.

“We’re not able to do the counselling because the matter is sub-judice before Supreme Court and the hearing will take place on January 6. I hope that NEET PG counselling will start soon,” said the union heath minister while addressing the media.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister and convener of the Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, condemning ‘police brutality’ during yesterday’s protest march of resident doctors in support of their demand for expedited NEET-PG counselling.

Previously, the doctors’ protest caused a shambles-like situation across hospitals in the capital city, as all counters for patients were closed.

Notably since November 27, the RDAs across the country have been protesting against the multiple postponements of the NEET PG Counselling 2021 and the subsequent admission of the fresh batch of resident doctors in the medical colleges.
