Jharkhand reports 3 Delta variant cases of Covid-19, active caseload at 608

Ranchi, Dec 29: With no new curbs from the Jharkhand government ahead of New Year, Covid cases in the state have started gaining peak. A total of 608 active Covid patients have been identified in the state out of which 220 are from Ranchi itself.

Manoj Kumar, HOD of RIMS Microbiology Department said that once again the positivity rate of the corona has started increasing. The report of 28 samples sent from RIMS to ILS Lab Bhubaneswar for genome sequencing has arrived. Of these, the delta variant has been confirmed in 3 infected people.

Out of 28 samples, 9 had been sent in the month of October and 19 in November. The samples of 8 positive patients sent between December 1-13 are yet to arrive,” Kumar said.

The Delta variant caused havoc in Jharkhand during the second wave of Corona. Every day thousands of people were confirmed to be infected with the delta variant. At the same time, the death toll had also increased.

According to the information received, two nurses of the urology department of RIMS have also been infected. Even in the first and second waves of the corona, the nurses of the urology department have been infected.

According to information received from sources, 6 doctors of RIMS have also given samples for corona examination. The investigation report of which is awaited.

The number of infected patients admitted to the trauma centre has increased to 7 where the two new infected persons, a 35-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman, both from Hazaribagh, have been admitted to the New Trauma Centre in RIMS.
