Dhanbad, Jan 5: A grocery store owner and his staff were found murdered in a shop at Bijulia area under Muffasil police station of Bokaro the previous night.

SDO Chas Purushottam Kumar, who reached the spot in the morning, said that the deceased were identified as Arun Mahta (60) and his staff Phatik Dhiwar (50). Both were sleeping in the shop at night and were found dead in the morning.

“The reason of murder is yet to be cleared. But it is believed that criminals might have come for a robbery in the shop and killed both in the course of it. However, not a single evidence indicating robbery was found there. The bodies have been sent for post mortem and only after getting a report, we would jump to any conclusion of the motive behind the crime,” he said.

Officer-in-charge of the Muffasil police station said that the son of Arun Mahta has also been informed about his father’s old dispute with someone. Police have also found injury marks on both bodies. So investigation has been carried out from different angles, he added.

As the report of the double murder spread, local traders and residents began protesting and demonstrating. However, on the assurance of the SDO Chas to arrest the killers, agitators cancelled the stir.
