Ranchi, Jan 7: With the upsurge of Covid-19 cases in Jharkhand, the rate of vaccination has also increased which came to the fore after the health department released vaccination data of January 5.

From 21st December 2020 to 2nd January 2021, the average per day vaccination remained at 1,47,983.

At the same time, the vaccination data between January 3 to January 5 shows a huge rise in the number of persons who got vaccinated. An average of 2,27,157 people got vaccinated in the same period.

According to the latest report of the health department, as many as 1,33,850 teenagers were vaccinated out of the total estimated population of 23,98,000 in Jharkhand.

A week before the deadline to complete 100% vaccination, the state has to administer more than 1,77,36,127 doses to achieve the target by January 15.

As many as 17 districts of the state are in the red zone which means they are below 50% in administering the second dose to the people.

The door-to-door vaccination policy of the state was also not fruitful as half of the population of the state has not been administered with the second dose and moreover, 22% population of the state is yet to receive their first dose.

Appealing to the people of the state, Ranchi Civil Surgeon Vinod Kumar said that people should not be afraid of getting vaccinated as it is now being even administered to the teenagers who are participating in large numbers and very soon the drive will be completed.

“With the upsurge in cases in the district, there is a rise in the number of persons reaching the vaccination centre to get them vaccinated,” Kumar said.
