New Delhi, Jan 11: Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has been hospitalized to the Mumbai hospital after she was diagnosed with COVID-19. The iconic musician is currently receiving treatment at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).

“She is doing fine; has been kept in ICU only for precautionary reasons considering her age. We hope she will recover soon. Please respect our privacy and keep Didi in your prayers,” Rachana said.

Last month, Lata took to Twitter to commemorate 80 years of her debut on radio. “On 16 December 1941, I sang two songs for the first time in the studio for radio after seeking the blessings of my parents. It has been 80 years today. In these 80 years, I have got immense love and blessings from the people. I believe that I will always keep getting your love and blessings,” she tweeted in Hindi.

Lata Mangeshkar, who was born on September 28, 1929, has received numerous national and international prizes, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Decoration and France’s highest civilian award, Officer of the Legion of Honour. She was named the most recorded artist in history by the Guinness Book of Records in 1974. Between 1948 and 1974, she is said to have sang approximately 25,000 songs.
