Ramgarh, Jan 13: Barkagaon MLA Amba Prasad met Minister Food Security and Public Department Rameshwar Oraon on Thursday. She urged the minister to open more and more paddy procurement centers in different parts of the region.

Drawing the attention of the minister, the Barkagaon MLA said, “Barkagaon assembly constituency is an agricultural dominated area and paddy procurement work is to be done in the year 2021-22 in many PACS under Barkagaon, Keredari and Patratu blocks of the assembly constituency, whose proposal is to meet the executive committee.”

She apprised Rameshwar Oraon on the problems being faced by the farmers due to non-procurement of paddy in the comprehensive paddy purchasing centers in the said blocks and told that the farmers have come to sell their paddy to the middlemen at throwaway prices.

“The situation is getting very pathetic. That is why in the interest of farmers, maximum paddy procurement centers should be opened as soon as possible,” she said.

Taking prompt action, the minister directed the Secretary of the department to accept the PACS deprived of paddy procurement for the convenience of the farmers at the earliest.
