Ranchi, Jan 15: The saffron brigade BJP slammed the JMM led government of the state for delaying the panchayat elections in the state.

Accusing the state government BJP, state president and MP Deepak Prakash said, “If Panchayat elections are held, people will give a tremendous blow to the JMM led government. Though panchayat elections may not be held on party basis, this government knows that people will vote against the candidates supported by these parties and that is why it is delaying by not announcing Panchayat elections.”

Prakash said that by not holding Panchayat elections, the state government is obstructing rural development work. Due to lack of elections, people are not getting work under MGNREGA, due to which migration is increasing rapidly in the state.

“The tenure of Panchayat in the state had ended in December 2020. The neighbouring states have done the work of giving authority to the panchayat by conducting their own panchayat elections, but this government is repeatedly postponing the elections by making corona or other excuses,” Prakash added.

Prakash further said that earlier the State Election Commission had completed the preparations for the elections on the basis of the electoral rolls released in the year January 2021, but now it has been decided to conduct the elections keeping in mind the eligibility of January 2022.

“The state government has decided to consider fixing the date of Panchayat elections pending for two years only after the second week of February. Due to the lack of willpower of the State Government to not hold elections, elections are being postponed by making excuses time and again,” Prakash added.
