Dhanbad, Jan 18: Mired in controversy for his alleged unsavoury comment on film actress Kangana Ranaut, Jamtara Cong MLA Dr Irfan Ansari has drawn flak even from his state party chief Rajesh Thakur.

Congress state president Rajesh Thakur has suggested the Jamtara to avoid making such controversial comments. He said that the comment of Dr Ansari on Kangana Ranaut was his (Dr Irfan) personal and not party’s.

The Congress state chief had come to see the ailing mother of senior Congress leader Vijay Kumar Singh at Barbadda yesterday night. When media persons asked his reaction over the controversial comment of his party’s MLA, Rajesh thakur said that Congress has always seen women in high respect. “ It is a personal statement of  Dr Irfan Ansari and Congress does not endorse his comment,” he said.

Congress Dhanbad district president  Brajendra Prasad Singh and other senior leaders of the party were also with the state chief Rajesh Thakur at the house of Vijay Kumar Singh.

However, the state chief at the same time accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for making a mountain out of  a molehill in the issue.

“ BJP has no public interest in the issue. So, it is unnecessary raising such a matter,” he  said.

Jamtara firebrand MLA Dr Irfan Ansari  has mired in the controversy following releasing a self made video on January 14 in which he claimed to make roads in his constituency as smooth as the cheeks of film actress Kangana Ranaut.

BJP leaders across the state have since then  demanded an apology from the Congress MLA. Dhanbad MP PN Singh, Dhanbad sadar MLA Raj Sinha, senior party leader and Ranchi MLA  CP Singh, all have assailed Dr Ansari for insulting women. A BJP functionary  has even filed an FIR against Dr Ansari.
