Lucknow, Jan 18: Chandrashekhar Azad, the leader of the Azad Samaj Party, has stated that his party will run alone in the Uttar Pradesh elections.
However, when asked about the possibilities of forming an alliance with the Congress, Chandrashekhar Azad told that the party may have talks and make a statement by the evening.
“We will be an alternative [to other political parties in UP. I rejected offers to be MLA and minister,” Chandrashekhar Azad said Putting out the first list of candidates.
“Even if SP gives us 100 seats, I won’t go with them. We shall help other parties after elections to stop BJP,” he added. “I also tried an alliance with Mayawati, but no one contacted me,” he said.
“I never cared about personal happiness. I lost a lot in the last five years. I went to jail for protesting incidents like those in Hathras, Prayagraj, and Unnao. If the BJP returns to power due to the division of the Opposition, it would be everyone’s loss,” he said. “The workers of the Bhim Army are our strength,” he added.
Chandra Shekhar Azad, the commander of the Bhim Army, ruled out an alliance between his Azad Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party (SP) for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly election on January 15. This happened just hours after Azad confirmed the two parties’ agreement.
