Surveillance and Monitoring Committee of Ranchi approves 18 cases for fund payments

Ranchi, Jan 19: A total of 18 cases were given approval for payment of funds under the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989. The decision was taken during a meeting of the District Level Surveillance and Monitoring Committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan today.

In the meeting, the committee discussed payment of compensation to the victims in a total of 19 cases. After deliberation, the committee approved 18 proposals.

Whereas in one case, on the issue of manual caste certificate from Bihar, the Deputy Commissioner directed to seek guidance from the department for payment of the amount.

In relation to the payment of compensation amount under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act 1989, the DC directed the District Welfare Officer to ensure the payment of dues to the victims as per rules.

He also directed to call for the report from the Superintendent of Police, Ranchi regarding the charge sheets filed in various cases that came to the committee in the last five years.
