Ranchi, Jan.22: Simdega district of Jharkhand, which hogged the limelight for a mob lynching incident a few days ago, now has a reason to celebrate as Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi today talked to the deputy commissioner of the district, Sushant Gaurav, online and learnt success tips from him.
The situation came after Gaurav’s district stood third among 112 districts according to the UNDP report of NITI Aayog and PM Modi planned to interact directly with the deputy commissioners of the top five districts, who gave better momentum to the indicators of targeted development by the NITI Aayog.
Gaurav was the first with whom PM Modi spoke to know the success story. Among the 112 districts of the country which NITI Aayog had selected, Simdega achieved the targeted development speed as one of the top districts.
“Sushant ji, what do you do to motivate the team of your district,” PM Modi asked, giving opportunity to the Simdega DC to share success tips.
As the DC got an opportunity he explained it in short. “I developed a service spirit and never made my team members feel that they are doing just a job. I let them know that discipline is very important for a person. I ensured that they come to the office every day motivated. Whenever I saw lack in their motivation I as a leader found a way to keep them motivated. Those who did good work in the team I encouraged them by reward. I myself went to ground zero and to inspect the work giving a message to my team to work in the same way,” DC Gaurav explained in brief.
Earlier, DC Gaurav explained how tough it was to achieve the target of development.
“Simdega district is in the form of a plateau. With the acidic quality of the soil, soil erosion occurs. 92 percent of the households in the district are based on agriculture. As soon as the aspirational district program started in the district, agriculture work was done. As many as 1500 families were provided with facilities of irrigation throughout the year through solar lift irrigation in 5000 acres. Changing the crop of agriculture through public participation, cultivation of ragi was done in an additional 25 hundred acres. Malnutrition and anemia have decreased in the district,” DC said.
The DC informed PM Modi about Olympian Salima Tete before adding that his district is known as the nursery of hockey and within a year the district had organized a national hockey championship.
Informing about good governance, the DC said mails and files are handled through e-office, due to which decision making has become very fast. He said the e-office does not hinder any work even during corona.
“Through aspirational district program, good governance and public participation, Simdega has achieved the third position in the country with an increase of more than 30 percent in every five indicators. The scheme of NITI Aayog will continue to get benefits even further,” the DC said, expressing his gratitude for getting the opportunity to share the story of development.
