Dumka, Jan 27: In a rare instance of brutality two children, both siblings, were strangulated to death and one of their eyes were gouged out before abandoning the dead bodies in a field in Ambadih under the jurisdiction of Amrapara police station of Pakur district.
Both the victims Marika Marandi (12) and her brother Babulal Marandi (10) had gone missing since last evening on Thursday whose dead bodies were found lying in a field this morning.
Parents of the victim children have said to the police that both the children were taken along by one Nehru Lal Marandi, his brother in the relation of their extended family, in the evening on Thursday on some pretext and did not return to their home.
The role of Nehru Lal Marandi who happens to be the uncle of the victim children is under the scanner of the police and is absconding now.
Pakur SP Hrudeep P Janardhanan rushed to the spot and said he was himself monitoring the investigation into the brutal killings of the children.
“The dead bodies were sent for postmortem at the Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital and attempts are on to arrest Nehru Lal Marandi,” the officer-in-charge of the Amrapara police station Manoj Kumar said reporters adding the FIR in this connection was lodged by victims’ father Prem Marandi.
The incident meanwhile, has sparked a large scale sensation in a vast locality around Ambadih village.
