Ind Vs WI: ODI series to be played behind closed doors in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Feb 2: The next three-match One-Day International series between India and the West Indies, which will begin on February 6 and be contested at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad, will be played behind closed doors.

The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) confirmed on their official Twitter account that all three One-Day Internationals between Rohit Sharma’s Indian squad and Kieron Pollard’s West Indies will be played without any spectators at the Motera Stadium.

The first One-Day International between the two teams will be historic, as India will become the first team in the history of one-day cricket to play 1000 ODI matches.

“We are all set to host West Indies Tour of India ODI Series 2022. 1st ODI on 6th of Feb will be a very special and historic match as India will be playing it’s 1000th ODI. Indian team will be the first cricket team in the world to achieve this feat,” tweeted Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA).

“Considering the current situation, all the matches will be played behind the closed doors,” it added.

Meanwhile, ahead of the white-ball series against India, the Kieron Pollard-led West Indies arrived in Ahmedabad on Wdnesday for the ODI leg of the tour.
