Ranchi, Feb 2: Reprimanding the BDOs of the district for registering fewer members than the actual ration card holders for petrol subsidy, Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan today ordered to expedite the registration work during the review meeting organized through a virtual medium.

During the meeting, the DC reviewed the entry of beneficiaries in the portal under the Petrol Subsidy Scheme. Taking information about data entry from the concerned BDOs, DC Ranjan directed to register as many ration card holders as possible.

During the meeting, the DC asked the BDOs the reason for the slow pace of registration. It was told by the BDOs that some people have the illusion that the ration card will be cancelled or their name will be cut after registering for the petrol subsidy scheme if they have a two-wheeler.

The DC said that people should be made aware by holding Gram Sabha at Panchayat level and PDS dealer level, telling them that those people who have a two-wheeler and ration cards can benefit from this scheme.

“VLEs and computer operators should also be kept with them during the Gram Sabha meeting so that eligible beneficiaries get registered,” the DC said.

The ration cardholders will get the benefit of the Petrol Subsidy Scheme under National Food Security Act-2013 and Jharkhand State Food Security Scheme. Pink and yellow ration card holders under NFSA and green ration card holders under JSFSS who have two-wheelers will get cheaper petrol (maximum 10 litres) by Rs 25 per litre. The amount will be transferred to the beneficiary’s account through DBT.

District Supply Officer, District Transport Officer, all BDOs of the district and other concerned officials were present in the review meeting organized through a virtual medium.
