Dehradun, Feb 7: Uttarakhand has named Bollywood star Akshay Kumar as its brand ambassador. On Monday morning, the actor met with the state’s chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, at his Dehradun residence.

“We had given him (Akshay Kumar) a proposal, he has accepted it. He will also work as a brand ambassador of Uttarakhand,” said Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

In 2017, Akshay Kumar was selected the brand ambassador for Uttarakhand’s ‘Swachhata Abhiyan.’ The actor said it was an honour to be part with the campaign and that he did not charge a fee for it.

Earlier in December 2021, cricketer Rishabh Pant was also named as Uttarakhand’s brand ambassador, joining Akshay Kumar. The video of Pant and CM Dhami engaging with one another became viral on social media at the time. “Rishabh Pant, one of India’s top cricket players, a youth icon, and a son of Uttarakhand, has been named as “State Brand Ambassador” by our government with the goal of encouraging the state’s young to participate in sports and public health,” Dhami tweeted.

Pant, who is from Uttarakhand’s Roorkee, had also expressed gratitude to the chief minister for selecting him as the brand ambassador. “Thank you, @pushkardhami sir, for allowing me to be a Brand Ambassador for promoting Sports and General Health among the people of Uttarakhand. I’ll do everything I can to share this message, and I’m glad you’re taking these measures toward a healthier India,” he wrote.
