Ranchi, Feb.8: Normal life suffered as internet services in four districts, including Hazaribagh, Chatra, Giridih and Koderma continued to remain suspended in order to stop the spread of rumour following the incident of group clashes during the movement of immersion procession on Sunday.

A locality resident from Hazaribagh informed this saying online classes and banking services remained worst affected while other services depending on the internet also got disturbed normal life. Sources in Chatra, Koderma and Giridih echoed the same.

Though Congress party leader Alok Dubey was not convinced and said it was a necessary step to stop violence and mob lynching, state president and Rajya Sabha member Deepak Parkash took strong exception to the situation saying that it is violation of freedom of speech and expression of common people.

“After having failed to maintain the law and order during the movement of the immersion procession the government has now attacked the freedom of speech and expression of the people in the state. Life has almost stopped in the districts where internet service has been stopped. At the time the internet has become necessary like water and air the government has stopped the service,” Prakash said.

State police spokesperson and IG (operation) A.V.Homkar could not be available for his comment on the situation. He did not take a call to know when the internet services will be resumed.

As many as eight were injured while one died in incidents of violence during the movement of immersion procession on Sunday and following the incident internet services were stopped from 4am on Monday.
