Ranchi, Feb 10: Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais on Thursday summoned the chairperson of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Amitabh Choudhary at the Raj Bhavan.
However, the Raj Bhavan termed it a courtesy meeting and said that Choudhary informed the governor of different initiatives taken by the Commission, including recruitment against the vacant posts at the university and the promotions of the university teachers.

But it is widely believed that Choudhary was summoned to explain the position of the JPSC on the combined civil services examination. In the last three months, Choudhary met the Governor for the third time.

Choudhary, however, did not speak to the media outside the Raj Bhavan. The preliminary result of the four combined civil services examinations namely seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth courted controversy.

The preliminary examinations were held against 252 seats. A total of 4293 students were declared successful for the preliminary examination.

But students alleged that among successful students there are 242 such aspirants who have their roll number in a serial. They are from different examination centres in Lohardaga, Sahebganj, Latehar and Gumla.

Alleging corruption students claimed the JPSC sold out these seats and they resorted to agitation. A delegation of students also met the Governor and demanded an inquiry into this matter. The JPSC had promised the Governor to look into these matters.

“242 students having their roll number serially were selected. The JPSC calls it coincidence but we call it corruption. The JPSC is the only recruitment agency in the world that prepares the merit list from the bottom,” said student leader Manoj Yadav.
