Tata Sons reappoints N Chandrasekaran as Executive Chairman

New Delhi, Feb 11: In a board meeting held on Friday, Tata Sons’ board reappointed N Chandrasekaran as its Executive Chairman for the next five years.

Ratan N Tata, a special invitee to the meeting, expressed his pleasure with the Tata Group’s success and performance under Chandrasekaran’s leadership and requested that his term be extended for another five years.

According to a statement from Tata Sons, the Board members also praised the Executive Chairman’s work and unanimously endorsed Chandrasekaran’s reappointment. “It has been a privilege to lead the Tata Group for the last five years, and I am happy at the opportunity to lead the Tata Group in its next phase for another five years,” Chandrasekaran said.

Notably, Natarajan Chandrasekaran is the Chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company and promoter of more than 100 Tata operational enterprises with annual revenues over $100 billion.

According to the TCS website, he joined the Board of Tata Sons in October 2016 and was appointed Chairman in January 2017.

Chandrasekaran also serves on the boards of several of the group’s operating firms, including Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Power, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where he served as CEO from 2009 to 2017.
