Jamshedpur, Feb 21: A back-to-back western disturbance coupled with an associated cyclonic circulation would again result in light rain and thunderstorm activity over isolated parts of Jharkhand on February 24 and 25, said IMD officials this afternoon.

The weatherman said the western disturbance was seen as a trough in the middle and upper troposphere within induced cyclonic circulation likely to form over southwest Rajasthan.

“We are expecting fall in minimum readings by one or two degrees Celsius in next 24 hours after which the minimum temperature will again witness a rise because of the western disturbance passing through northern parts of the country, which will impact Jharkhand’s weather,” said a duty officer at IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre.

Met statistics revealed that most places across Jharkhand on Monday recorded minimum temperature between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius.

Some places also witnessed light showers and overcast conditions on Sunday because of a low-pressure trough caused by a previous western disturbance.

Weathermen said such frequent formation of western disturbance has resulted in prolonging winter in Jharkhand and neighbouring Bihar.

Under normal circumstances, winter departs from Jharkhand by the second week of February but this year it is expected to overstay till February end.

After two days of rain on February 24 and 25, the weather condition is expected to be dry and bright from February 26.
