New Delhi, Feb 25: Russia will impose retaliatory penalties on Western countries on the basis of reciprocity, the Kremlin announced on Friday.
Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesperson, said sanctions would generate challenges for Russia, but that they would be manageable because the country has reduced its reliance on foreign goods.
He refused to say how long Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which provoked the sanctions, would persist, and said any queries regarding civilian casualties in Ukraine should be directed to the military.
Earlier, the USA and the European Union had imposed sanctions on Russia.
