Dhanbad, Feb 28: Small industries of Bokaro and Koderma will get direct power supply from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) from next month.

DVC Chairman Ramnaresh Singh said that the organization (DVC) has started providing direct supply to small consumers in Dhanbad. Units of Bokaro Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) and Koderma will get this facility soon.

The DVC Chairman in his two days tour of Maithon (Dhanbad), started his dream project of giving a direct line to the small industry Chirkunda based Chandi Ceramic Manufacturer of Alumina Bricks in Dhanbad on Sunday evening.

He said that small industries and the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector would benefit greatly from this ambitious project of the DVC.

“Due to the Corona pandemic, the dream project of DVC got delayed but work is being done on a priority basis. Power substations of 11 KV of Bokaro and Koderma would be completed in March to provide direct power supply to small industries of the region,” said the DVC chairman.

Till now, small industries in 7 districts of Jharkhand get power supply from Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL).

The DVC chairman said that there is no dearth of power and his mission is to ensure zero tipping and provide consumers better service on a priority basis.

JITA welcomes DVC’s decision

The Jharkhand Industries and Trade Unions (JITA) has highly appreciated the DVC project of giving direct power supply to small industries and has requested chairman Ramnaresh Singh to set up an 11 KV power sub-station in Kandra industrial area of Dhanbad too.

JITA General Secretary Rajiv Sharma shot off a memorandum to the DVC chairman today and said that his project would give a new lease of life to several small industries that are on verge of closure due to a power crisis.

“Dhanbad Kandra industrial area is the hub of factories and at par of Bokaro and Koderma. 11 KV substation should also be set up there,” he said.
