Washington, March 9: US Vice President Joe Biden stated on Wednesday that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will never win the war in Ukraine. Putin may be able to conquer a city, but he would never be able to hold a country, according to him.

“This much is already clear: Ukraine will never be a victory for Putin. Putin may be able to take a city — but he will never be able to hold the country,” he tweeted.

In reaction to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, he placed a ban on US imports of Russian oil, gas, and electricity just hours ago. “Russian oil will no longer be taken at US ports,” he said, “and the American people will strike back hard against Putin’s military machine.”

The current crisis, according to Biden, serves as a clear warning that the United States must become energy independent in the long run if it is to survive. It would also rule out the use of fossil fuels as a weapon by “tyrants like Putin.”
