Jamshedpur, March 10:  IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre on Thursday predicted a dry spell in Jharkhand for the next five days at least with the maximum temperature likely to climb by two to three degrees Celsius in the next few days in many parts, including Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Daltonganj, Dumka and Hazaribagh.

According to weathermen, the mercury will witness a rising trend in the absence of any local weather system.

“Though we are expecting a western disturbance passing through mid-troposphere but it won’t have any impact in Jharkhand’s weather, ” said a duty officer at Ranchi Met Centre.

Thundershowers activity due to changes in local weather conditions was expected only after March 15, said the weathermen.

On Thursday, maximum readings witnessed a rise in most places across the state.

Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of around 31 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

Jamshedpur continued to record over 33 degrees Celsius for the third consecutive day today

According to the forecast, the steel city was expected to witness a three-degree rise in day temperatures in the next 72- hours or so.

In Daltonganj too the day reading witnessed a rise. The local IMD observatory in Daltonganj recorded around 34 degrees Celsius.

Bokaro, Godda, Garhwa and several other districts in Santhal Pargana and Kolhan region have been recording maximum temperature over 33 degrees Celsius for the last two days.

Several other districts, including Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Deoghar, Ramgarh and Dumka, witnessed a rising trend in maximum readings.

Weathermen said that the wind pattern over Jharkhand was fluctuating between north-westerly and westerly, which would push up the day temperature.
