Ranchi, March13: The two -day ‘Start-up mela’ organised in Ranchi by ‘Vocal for Local’ NGO saw a total of 73 start-ups take part in it. From Silk to home-made ice cream, start-ups of different types took part in the event. Entrepreneurs of all ages were a part of it.
Santosh Hazam and Manish Ranjan are the co-founders or ‘Nandigan’ that make organic oils and botanical candles. The start-up is 5 months old and is doing well.
“The oil is manufactured in Jonha and is purely organic. We also make botanical candles and aroma candles which are made of Soy wax,” said Santosh.
A couple from Ranchi, Tushar and Athira are the founders of ‘Sushila Silks’. The couple spoke to Lagatar24.com and explained about their products.
“We have authentic pure kanjeevaram silk and cotton sarees which we buy directly from the weavers from Tamil Nadu. Our business is around 2 and a half years old. Apart from this, we also have our very own homemade rasam and sambar powder called ‘Tattva’. We also have unpolished pepper which comes directly from our hometown in Kerala,” Tushar explained.
Ankan Saha, one of the organizers, said that the event has been a success and the response from people has also been good.
“The event has been a good platform for upcoming startups, and it is good to see that people are coming up and appreciating these start-ups. A total of 73 start-ups took part in the event and we are looking to organise more such events in the future,” he said.
Nishu Agarwal is the founder of ‘Dream Cream’, a start-up which makes homemade ice cream. They make different types of ice-cream which are quite rare in Ranchi.
“I started making ice-cream during the lockdown for my daughter. That’s when I got the idea of starting to sell it online through Instagram. The response has been good since then. We have also opened an ice cream studio in Kanke Road. Our ice cream contains no preservatives. We have more than 15 varieties of ice-cream such as black current, strawberry, chocolate etc,” she said.
