Raipur, March 14: A pressure improvised explosive device (IED) set by Naxals went off in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district on Monday, killing one official of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and injuring a jawan, according to a police official.
The blast killed Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajendra Singh, while head constable Mahesh was injured.

According to Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P, the incident occurred at 8.30 a.m. between Dondribeda and Sonpur villages, while a detachment of the ITBP’s 53rd battalion was out on patrolling duty to ensure security to a road construction activity.
Security officers came into contact with the pressure IED while cordoning off a wooded region, triggering an explosion, he added.
