Ranchi, Mar 15: After the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation Mithilesh Kumar Thakur, efforts have been initiated at the state level for speedy disposal and monitoring of all types of public grievances related to drinking water and sanitation.

However, when lagatar24.com tried to contact the toll-free number (1800 345 6502), no one answered the call and the mobile number (9470170901) provided for registering public grievances remained out of service.

At the same time, the website (jharjaljharkhand.gov.in) issued by the government, on which the complaints will be uploaded, was not in existence.

When searching for the mobile application (Jhar-Jal) which the press release issued today suggested for registering the complaints was also not in existence on the google play store from where the app is downloaded.

When Secretary Prashant Kumar of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation was contacted for his comment on the issue, he didn’t receive the call.

According to the press release of the Jharkhand government, a state-level call centre has been established for achieving this end. The call centre is being operated from 08.00 am till 08.00 pm without any interruption at the PMU office, Doranda, Ranchi.

The Chief Minister has instructed for the review of the complaints received in the call centre every 15 days by the departmental officer and at the end of the month by the departmental secretary. The purpose of a web-based call centre is the transparent and speedy disposal of public grievances related to various types of drinking water and sanitation from the remote rural areas of the state.

The release further read that the complaints will be assigned to the concerned officer and will be better managed and monitored through the web portal.  The residents of the state will be able to file complaints related to hand pump repair, small rural pipe water supply scheme, large rural pipe water supply scheme, pipeline leakage, water supply, water quality, etc.
