Ranchi, Mar 21: The former minister and MLA of Jamshedpur (East) Saryu Roy on Monday raised the issue of the alleged tardy investigation into the alleged corruption case against former BJP CM and his bete noir Raghubar Das.
In October 2020, the Hemant Soren government had ordered the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to probe the role of Das and others for allegedly appointing the Meinhardt Singapore Private Limited as a consultant for the Ranchi sewerage-drainage project in 2005 by going against the rule.
Roy raised the matter during the budget session of the assembly and said that the ACB conducted a preliminary inquiry into this matter. Later on, it sought a reply from named suspects about the findings of the ACB against them. He said that no regular FIR was registered by the ACB due to non-receipt of order from the competent authority. He said that the case can’t be kept pending just because not many accused have turned up to submit their reply.
Responding to this, Rural Development minister Alamgir Alam said that that investigation of the matter was going on involving several persons. He said that the ACB has received the answer of two to three people. He said that the government would ensure that all such named suspects file their reply within the next two months.
During the session, the BJP kept shouting against Chief Minister Hemant Soren and trooped to the well of the house. Outside of the house, the BJP MLAs demonstrated against the chief minister and demanded his resignation for misusing his office to allegedly secure mining lease and patronizing coal pilferage.
