New Delhi, March 22: Twelve days after the assembly election results in five states, petrol and diesel prices were raised by 80 paise per litre on Tuesday.

Petrol costs Rs 105.51 per litre in Kolkata, while diesel costs Rs 90.62 per litre.
Petrol and diesel prices in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, have risen to Rs 102.16 per litre and Rs 92.19 per litre, respectively.
Petrol costs Rs 110.82 per litre in Mumbai, while diesel costs Rs 95 per litre.
Despite global crude oil prices breaking the three-digit mark and reaching multi-year highs, fuel costs have stayed steady since November 2021. However, many had expected a price increase following the outbreak of hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, which pushed up world prices.
Notably, Petrol and diesel prices in India are determined by a number of factors, including demand for gasoline, the value of the Indian rupee against the US dollar, refinery consumption ratios, and so on.
The cost of gasoline and diesel varies by state, owing to the impact of local taxes such as value-added tax (VAT) and freight charges.
