Lucknow, Mar 25: Yogi Adityanath will take his second oath as Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister at 4 p.m. today. In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the BJP leader will be sworn in at a lavish ceremony in Lucknow. The chief ministers of many BJP-ruled states will also be in attendance.
On Thursday, BJP legislators elected Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
In the recently finished elections, the BJP won a second term in a row, breaking a nearly 40-year-old record.
Yogi Adityanath, citing his personal record, said, “In 2017, the party had faith in me. I was simply a regular MP with no administrative experience, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Home Minister were like guardians for me, teaching me how to run the state of Uttar Pradesh well.”
In the recently ended Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, the Bharatiya Janata Party secured a clear majority. The Yogi Adityanath-led party was well ahead of the minimum 202 seats to win the privilege to lead the 403-seat legislature, with 255 seats in its kitty.
The MLAs of the BJP’s allies, Apna Dal and Nishad Party were added to the count, bringing the overall strength of the alliance to 273. With the BJP’s landslide victory, Yogi Adityanath has been re-elected as Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister for the second time.
