Ramgarh, Mar 28: The Hazaribagh police have solved the murder case of a woman who was killed by her husband on March 25. The accused husband Rajesh Kumar Sonkar and mother-in-law Prabha Devi have been arrested by the police. The accused was absconding after the incident.
Rajesh Sonkar told the police that he suspected that his wife had an illicit relationship with someone else, so he killed her.
Both arrested were sent to JP jail late last evening. A country-made pistol, two live bullets, two magazines and a mobile have been confiscated from the accused.
Sadar SDPO Mahesh Kumar Prajapati said that on March 25, the accused shot and killed his wife, Vandana Devi, while the mother-in-law committed the crime of hiding evidence by cleaning up the blood that was spilt in the room after the murder.
When the police got information about the incident, Rajesh Kumar Sonkar of Mallah Toli was booked after investigation. Based on the written application of the father of the deceased Kalu Sonkar (village Phulpur, Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh), a case was registered in Bada Bazar TOP. Taking the incident seriously, the SP had formed a team to investigate the matter.
The team, probing the case within 48 hours, arrested the deceased’s husband Rajesh Sonkar and mother-in-law, Prabha Devi.
Police tracked the mobile and arrested Rajesh. After carrying out the incident, the accused had gone to Parasnath, Koderma and Charhi. After this, he returned to Hazaribagh. The police arrested him from the bus stand.
A separate case of the Arms Act has also been registered against the accused. Police have identified the arms supplier. Raids are being conducted to arrest him.
