New Delhi, March 28: Tokyo Olympic Gold medallist Neeraj Chopra received the Padma Shri award on Monday from President Ram Nath Kovind. The Padma awards for the year 2022 were conferred on Monday by the president at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Notably, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri are the three types of awards given out. These honours are granted in a variety of sectors and disciplines, including art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and civil service.
The Padma Vibhushan is given for extraordinary and distinguished service, whereas the Padma Bhushan is given for distinguished service of high order and the Padma Shri is given for distinguished service in any field. Every year, on the occasion of Republic Day, the prizes are presented.
The President of India bestows the awards during ceremonial occasions held at Rashtrapati Bhawan. A total of 128 Padma awards will be given out this year. Four Padma Vibhushans, 17 Padma Bhushans, and 107 Padma Shri Awards are among the honorees.
