New Delhi, April 11: After cases of the new XE variety of coronavirus were detected in Maharashtra and Gujarat, the Centre said on Monday that there was no cause to fear.

As per Indian data, Omicron variations of the X series do not cause significant infections and do not spread rapidly, according to the head of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI), NK Arora.

News agency ANI quoted Arora saying, “Omicron is giving rise to many new variants. It’s part of the X series like XE & others. These variants will keep on occurring. Nothing to panic about… At the moment from Indian data, it doesn’t show a very rapid spread.”
