Jharkhand HC seeks report of BIT Mesra and CIMFR on Deoghar ropeway tragedy

HC deferred the hearing till May 6

Ranchi, April 25: The Jharkhand High Court, which on April 12 had taken suo moto cognizance in the matter of the Trikut Ropeway tragedy, today directed the state government to submit a report of BIT Mesra and Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR) in the matter before deferring the hearing till May 6.

The development took place in the division bench of Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice SN Prasad after an advocate general appearing on behalf of the state government has started a probe into the matter the report will be submitted soon and the court expressed its displeasure on its progress.

A major accident had taken place on April 10 on the ropeway on Trikut Mountain in which three persons lost lives.

The mountain is located on Deoghar-Dumka main road under Mohanpur police station area of Deoghar district. The ropeway wire of Trikoot Mountain broke in the middle of the operation. Many of its passengers were trapped in the trolley itself. The Army, NDRF and local administration were called to rescue the tourists.
