Ranchi, April 25: The Jharkhand High Court confirmed provisional bail of former MLA and education minister Bandhu Tirkey on Monday.

The hearing took place in the court of Justice Anil Kumar Choudhary. While confirming the bail, Justice Choudhary called for a lower court report for further hearing in the matter.

On March 28, the CBI court convicted Tirkey and sentenced him to three years’ imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs 3 lakhs. The conviction was done under sections 13(2)13(1) 13(3) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

On the same day, the lower court granted him provisional bail, giving him the opportunity to challenge the order before the high court within a month and Tirkey used the opportunity.
