New Delhi, April 27: In the wake of the recent spike in coronavirus infections over the past two weeks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a review meeting with state chief ministers and senior officials on Wednesday. Following the meeting, he stated that the authorities must remain vigilant because the pandemic’s challenges had not yet been overcome.

He stated that the government’s objective was to vaccinate all eligible children as soon as possible, and that specialised programmes in schools would be required. The Prime Minister also discussed the country’s anti-virus immunisation campaign.

Talking about the country’s vaccination drive, he said “It is a matter of pride for every Indian that 96 per cent adult population in country has got at least one dose of Covid vaccine.”

Modi stated that health infrastructure had greatly improved as a result of the Center’s and states’ cooperative efforts, and that the same (including manpower) should be scaled up at medical colleges and district hospitals.

“Despite managing the Covid crisis, as compared to other countries, we can see cases’ uptick in states now. We have to stay alert. It’s clear that the Covid challenge has yet not been surpassed,” PM Modi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“Our scientists and experts are continuously monitoring the national and global situation. We have to work on their suggestions with a pre-emptive, pro-active and collective approach,” said PM.

“We have to promote Covid-appropriate behaviour in public places,” he added.
