Ranchi, April 28: The supporters of Lalu Prasad are eagerly waiting for his return after the Birsa Munda Jail administration sent information to the Director of AIIMS, Delhi that he can be now released from the judicial custody.

Last Friday, the Jharkhand High Court granted bail to former Bihar chief minister and RJD boss Lalu Prasad in fodder scam case RC 47A/96.

In February, the special CBI court of Sudhanshu Kumar Shashi had sentenced Lalu Prasad to five years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 60 lakh. The case is related to the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 139.35 Crores from the Doranda treasury of Ranchi during 1995-96.

But his release depends upon whether the AIIMS finds him medically fit. “All necessary paper works have been done and the jail administration sent an e-mail to AIIMS. The police force of jail has been called back. Laluji is technically a free man now,” said senior lawyer Prabhat Kumar.

Talking to lagatar24.com, the senior Bihar RJD leader and spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari said they were eagerly waiting for the release of Lalu Prasad. “We are eagerly waiting for his return. Not only the family but Bihar needs him at this moment. But it depends upon the doctors whether they discharge him or not,” said Tiwari.

Sources close to Lalu Prasad said that there was no wonder if AIIMS asks him to stay for another two weeks at the hospital for treatment. “He is facing kidney problems and many other ailments. Even at the RIMS, doctors had advised him to reduce his weight. he is not keeping good health,” said sources.
