Dhanbad, April 30: The irate traders of Jharia have blocked Dhanbad –Sindri main road since Saturday morning. Their demand is the immediate arrest of the killers of MRF tyre showroom owner Ranjit Sab, who was shot dead in his establishment by unidentified criminals in the Upper Kulhi area under Jharia police station on Friday evening.

Senior police and administrative officers of the district were camping on the spot to get the blockade of the Dhanbad- Sindri main road cleared. But till the last report, local traders and the Jharia public had not relented on their request.

Police officials said the incident occurred around 4.30 pm on Friday. Three bike-borne masked men reached the MRF tyre showroom. The staff of the showroom had gone out of the office when the criminals entered the chamber of Ranjit Sab and shot three bullets in his head.

He was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Getting information, the Superintendent of Police (rural) Reshma Rameshan, Jharia police station officer-in-charge Pankaj Jha along with other officers reached the spot and began the investigation.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjiv Kumar later said that in prima facie investigation, the incident does not look related to extortion demand. Police are probing disputes of  Ranjit Sab. “The faces of killers have been spotted in CCTV footage and they would be nabbed soon,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Industrialists and Trade Association (JITA) and Federation of Dhanbad Chamber of Commerce (FDCC) have expressed concern over law and order in the district.

JITA president Amitesh Sahay and secretary Rajiv Sharma said that the killing of the MRF tyre showroom owner has created panic among the traders. JITA would protest against the state government and demand strict action from the administration.

A delegation of FDCC would meet SSP tomorrow to arrest killers so that businessmen could trade without fear.

“Today we will perform the last rites of  Ranjit Sab. So the FDCC delegation along with family members of the deceased would meet SSP for the arrest of criminals involved in the incident,” said FDCC patron Rajesh Gupta and president Chaitan Goenka.
