Berlin, May 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi left Berlin on Tuesday for Copenhagen, Denmark, to begin the second phase of his three-nation European tour. PM Modi praised the German authorities for their hospitality during his ‘productive’ visit before departing.

“My Germany visit has been a productive one. The talks with @Bundeskanzler Scholz were extensive and so were the Inter-Governmental Consultations. I got a great opportunity to interact with business and Indian community leaders. I thank the German Government for their hospitality,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Denmark will give India an opportunity to shape new elements of partnership in the fields of skill development, shipping, agri-technology, and mobility.

This will be the Prime Minister’s first visit to Denmark, but his third meeting with his Danish counterpart at the summit level. Both leaders will discuss bilateral problems as well as regional and global concerns during their meeting. Later, under the aegis of the India-Denmark Business Forum, PM Modi and Frederiksen will meet with business executives from both nations. PM Modi will also pay a visit to Danish Queen Margrethe II, who will organise an official supper for the Prime Minister, according to Kwatra.

PM Modi will meet with the Prime Ministers of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden, and Norway on May 4 for the second India-Nordic summit. Prior to the opening of the summit, PM Modi will meet with the leaders of Norway, Iceland, Finland, and Sweden for bilateral summit meetings.

Apart from the United States, India is the only country with which the Nordic countries have held summit-level meetings. On Wednesday, PM Modi will visit Paris and meet with newly re-elected French President Emmanuel Macron.
