Ranchi, May 10: A 2007 batch IAS officer Manoj Kumar is not willing to work as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Jharkhand Agency for Promotion of Information Technology (JAP-IT), a wing of the Information Technology and e-governance department of Jharkhand.

An official of JAP-IT informed this saying “a day after he was notified as CEO, JAP-IT, he expressed his unwillingness.”

Asked about the reason, the official said: “He is a secretary rank officer and the assignment which has been given to him is generally supposed to be looked after by a comparatively junior officer. Apart from this, he is already given charges of many departments. At present, apart from working as the director of IT and e-governance department, he also holds the charge of Jail (IG) and CEO of Jharkhand Satellite Application Centre (J-SAC).”

On contacting Manoj Kumar for his comment, he confirmed his unwillingness by saying: “JAP-IT requires a full-time CEO. It will be difficult for me to do justice with my work if I have been given an additional charge.”

The post of JAP-IT CEO is vacant after Sarvesh Singhal was removed all of a sudden a month ago and kept waiting for his posting.

JAP-IT was conceptualized to accelerate the growth of information technology in Jharkhand and implement the policies of the state government in the IT area. The broad objectives were to provide IT inputs to government departments/organizations/agencies and to provide end to end e-Governance solutions for the state of Jharkhand.
