Lucknow, May 12: The Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking directions from the court to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to unlock 22 locked doors of the world-famous Taj Mahal in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district.

The Archaeological Survey of India has been ordered to unlock 20 rooms inside the Taj Mahal in Agra to see if Hindu idols and inscriptions are buried there, according to a plea filed in the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench.

“The issues lie outside court and should be done by various methodology and should be left with the historians,” the court said.

Rajneesh Singh, a BJP youth media in-charge, filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow Bench, requesting that the Archaeological Survey of India investigate the 22 locked doors of the Taj Mahal for the presence of Hindu deity idols. According to the petitioner, erroneous history concerning the Taj Mahal is being taught, and so the doors should be opened to determine the truth.

In the midst of this, Diya Kumari, a BJP Lok Sabha MP from Rajsamand and a Jaipur Royal descendent, said on Wednesday that the site on which the Taj Mahal was built belonged to the old Jaipur Royal family.
