Ranchi, May 14: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) in its probe found that cartridges were stolen from a BSF camp to supply them to extremists and criminals in Jharkhand.
The probe came to the fore as the national investigation agency filed a charge sheet against 11 accused arrested for supplying ammunition to extremists and criminals.
The NIA in its charge sheet mentioned that Havildar Karthik Behera, who was posted as the coath in-charge in the 116 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) located in Firozpur, Punjab, stole the cartridges from the BSF camp and through his associates, the cartridges were distributed to the extremists and criminals supplied.
It further suggests that Arun Kumar Singh took voluntary retirement from the same 116 battalion of BSF and became a medium to supply cartridges to CPI-Maoists, criminals of the Aman Sahu gang and some others. Apart from this, the charge sheet suggests that Singh used contractors working in Naxal areas to supply the ammunition.
The anti-terrorist squad of Jharkhand had disclosed the crime by arresting three including a CRPF jawan on November 16 last year. Later the matter was handed over to the NIA.
