LPG price rises again, domestic cylinder rates jumps over Rs 1000 mark

New Delhi, May 19: The price of 14.2 kg Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders has increased by Rs 3.5 with effect from today, according to a price notification from state-owned fuel retailers.

Domestic LPG cylinders will now cost Rs. 1003 per cylinder with the recent hike. The price of commercial LPG cylinders was raised by Rs. 50 earlier this month.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder prices in Delhi were raised to Rs 999.50 on May 7. The price of a 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinder was raised by Rs 102.50 on May 1, bringing it to Rs 2355.50.

In the meantime, an LPG cylinder in Kolkata will cost roughly Rs. 1029 and Rs. 1018.5 in Chennai. LPG cylinder prices have increased by nearly Rs 190 per cylinder from April 2021.

This is the second increase in May, following the firming of global energy costs. With the latest hike in the price of a 14.2kg cooking gas cylinder, rates in all states across the country have surpassed Rs 1000.
