Minor raped at her own house in Jamshedpur, culprit arrested

Jamshedpur, May 20: A minor girl was raped night long on being held hostage at her own house in Ghaghidih locality under suburban Bagbera thana area of the steel city on Friday.

 

After a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother with the Bagbera thana in the morning, police swung into action and succeeded in arresting the culprit.

 

The accused identified as Sheikh Altaf (22) was sent to judicial custody after the police produced him before a judicial magistrate in the afternoon.

 

According to the police, the accused had intruded into the house past midnight and sneaked into the room where the girl was in deep slumber.  He subsequently awakened the girl and raped her.

 

According to the police, after the girl had screamed for help, the family members rushed to the room and overpowered the culprit.

 

The OC, Bagbera thana, Kaushal Kumar Jha said they have sent the victim to MGM medical college hospital for medical examination for the confirmation of rape.

 

The OC pointed out that the accused stayed in the victim’s room since 12.30 am till 3.am during which he raped the girl. As the remaining members of the family were sleeping in the courtyard, they could not hear the scream in time.

 

The incident has triggered sensation in the Ghaghidih locality, leading the residents to demand patrolling in the area during the night.
