Ranchi, May 20: The Ranchi University is set to begin the preparations for student union elections from September 2022. Notably, the RU had announced the elections recently during a senate meeting after pressure from several student unions.

However, when asked of the timing, officials have claimed that every preparation will begin after admissions in July.

RU PRO Pritam said, “Just like the election commission manages the elections and provides a time limit within which to complete every process related to elections, RU elections also take place in a similar manner where a set time limit is provided.”

“All processes, including nomination will begin by September, once all kinds of work related to admissions is completed,” he added.

Notably, it has been three years since RU has had student union elections. This is the reason why, even after three years, student representatives were not present at the RU Senate meeting held recently, as their terms are already over.

Meanwhile, RU VC Kamini Kumar had announced then that the student union elections would soon be held, though she had not divulged any dates.
