Ramgarh, May 31: The court of Additional District and Session Judge III on Tuesday sentenced two murder convicts, the deceased’s wife Shamma Parveen and younger brother Tufail Ansari to life imprisonment.

A fine of Rs 30,000 has also been imposed on the culprits. In default of payment of fine, they have been sentenced to one and a half years separately.

Shamma Parveen and younger brother Tufail Ansari were accused of the murder of Shaukat Ansari. Naseem Ansari, the father of the deceased Shaukat Ansari, had lodged an FIR in Kuju OP against the younger son and daughter-in-law on 18th October 2018.

In an illicit relationship, the Shamma along with Tufail had strangled Shaukat to death with a nylon rope. The court has imposed life imprisonment under sections 302 and 34 of IPC, one-year additional imprisonment for non-payment of a fine of Rs 20,000 and seven years imprisonment under sections 201 and 34 of IPC and a fine of Rs 10,000.

In default of payment of the fine, they will be sentenced to further imprisonment for six months. The court had convicted both of them on May 27.

Shaukat Ansari, a resident of Topa LCH Mines Quarter under Kuju OP, used to work as a tailor. Both the accused had an affair with each other.  Shaukat often used to tell his younger brother Tufail Ansari to stay away from his wife. Despite this, Tufail used to establish illicit relations with Shamma Parveen.

Tufail had also threatened to kill Shaukat. After this, on the night of 18th October 2018, Tufail and Shamma strangled Shaukat to death with a rope.

Both the children of the deceased were eyewitnesses in the case. They recorded their statements before the court that their father Shaukat Ansari had been strangled to death with a rope by mother Shamma Parveen and uncle Tufail Ansari in front of their eyes.

In this entire case, the testimony of a total of 13 witnesses was presented in the court on behalf of the prosecution. Additional Public Prosecutor SK Shukla also presented the nylon rope used in the murder as evidence before the court. A diary of the deceased was also presented in the court.  Before dying, Shaukat had mentioned in the diary that his life was in danger from his wife and brother.
